PALETO, SAN ANDREAS, DECEMBER 12 2022 – The San Andreas Parks Department is proud to announce the opening of a brand new facility, the Paleto Forest Ranger Station. This state-of-the-art building will serve as the new headquarters for the parks department, transferring their main operations from Beaver Bush Ranger Station in Vinewood State Park to their new home base in Paleto.
The new station is equipped with several features, including a large reception area, expansive offices and meeting spaces, pet kennels, holding cells, archives, evidence storage, and more. The building itself is also LEED certified, constructed with local redwoods and other sustainable source materials that allow it to qualify as a “green” building. SAPD aims to maintain environmental responsibility through the use of this facility, minimizing the natural resources required to keep department operations running smoothly.
The San Andreas Parks Department is committed to helping visitors enjoy their time in the parks and ensuring the safety of everyone who visits. Founded in 2021, the department is excited to maintain the new station closer to its other facilities, leading the way in environmental stewardship through events, classes, and other organized activities.
The Paleto Forest Ranger Station is the latest addition to a series of customized venues that have been erected for the department since its founding in 2021. The Sunshine Welcome Center – located across Great Ocean Highway – provides a public space optimized for education, while also providing safe aerial transportation to the top of San Andreas’ highest peak, Mount Chiliad. Nearby you may also find two major camping sites, located near Cassidy Creek and at the top of the Mt. Chiliad State Wilderness area. Visitors are encouraged to make use of the camps, although those interested in hosting events at the Mt. Chiliad Campgrounds should reach out to the Parks department in order to access its interior amenities.
